Exhibition in Exile - 23-26 June

Launch event Thursday 23 June, from 11am

Exhibition open Thurs-Sun, 10am-4pm

For Refugee Week 2022 an exhibition of artworks that escaped Turkey together with its organizers has found refuge in St James’ Benwell.

By renowned cartoonists, selected from over 1200 submissions for a global contest, the works respond to the experiences of immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers in Europe. However, in 2016 the event's organiser, Levent Eyüpoğlu, himself had to flee with the works, eventually finding refuge in Newcastle. Hence, the name 'Exhibition in Exile'.

The exhibition will be accompanied by Turkish and other immigrant musicians and artists for live music, art workshops, and a panel of prominent figures active in immigration related affairs.

Organised along with Human Rights Solidarity, Time to Help, GemArt, Comfrey Project and Being Woman.
