Diana Humphrey
It is with great sadness that we announce that our much loved friend, Dee, passed away on Thursday 10th Sept. From Canada to Benwell, she brought joy to every room she entered.
Her funeral will take place on 2nd October, 12.45pm, at St John’s. There will be a service of Holy Communion and chance to celebrate her life.
May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
Welcome Fr David!
We are delighted to announce that The Revd David Cleugh has been appointed as Interim Minister for Benwell and Scotswood Team Parish.
Bishop Mark will join us for Fr David’s licensing service on Sunday 27th September, 11.15am, at St James.
David has worked in a variety of different parish roles, each with multiple churches. He also spent some time as a Prison Chaplain in Durham. His most recent job was with two churches in Hebburn. He is married to Hannah and has a daughter Rosamund (3 and half) and a cocker spaniel called Eddie. He is very much looking forward to getting to know the wonderful, strong, and beautiful communities of Benwell and Scotswood.
Please keep David, Hannah and their family, and the people of Benwell and Scottswood parishes in your prayers as they prepare to begin this new chapter together.
Fr Chris’ last service

When we’ll have the opportunity to give thanks for his faithful ministry among us and wish him every blessing as he begins this new chapter. After a short break, he will begin his new role in in Shieldfield in November.
Please keep Fr Chris, our parish, and the people of Christ Church Shieldfield and St Ann’s Battlefield in your prayers during this time of transition

We will be joined by Bishop Helen-Ann and our speaker is the Revd Canon Lucy Sablan. Lucy is a Team Rector in inner city Sheffield, looking after 4 churches in Manor and Arbourthorne (which basically means working with an amazing team of people and living in on one of the most fun communities in the country). She is also Canon of Urban Evangelisation at Sheffield Cathedral, helping to advocate for and resource ministry in estates and low income communities in the diocese. She loves Dog walks, and can usually be found on her rest day in the peak district either on a muddy walk, in a pub or (Preferably) both.
Please sign up ASAP to help with numbers for catering purposes.
